Why is Handball a common game in Elementary Schools?

I remember my days in Elementary when Handball was very common and weird enough, it's still common today. Is there a reason why Handball is a game commonly used?|||Because it takes up a relatively small space in a schoolyard. You don't need an entire field or basketball court to play. One wall can allow multiple games to be played at the same times. It is easy to maintain...just re-paint the lines every summer. And if you only play to 7 points, games can move along quickly, allowing more to participate. And the rules are easy to learn...in, out, long, short|||I think it may have been common in the 1960's, but I'm not aware of schoolchildren doing any physical activities anymore, certainly not handball. Well, maybe in Miami or something.
