Why doesnt the US have a handball olympic team?

Why dosent the US try to qualify for the olympics in handball?|||I don't know the specifics of handball, but generally national teams have to qualify prior to the Olympics. For example, in basketball, FIBA held a tournament last year to select the Olympic teams from North %26amp; South America. I suspect handball selects Olympic teams similarly.

That said, it's astonishing that the US can't assemble a team to even qualify for the Olympics. I saw some handball in Europe, and there's no reason we can't get in. The skills are similar to those required by basketball guards or small forwards. If we were serious about handball, we'd collect athletes not quite good enough to go pro and teach them the game: send them to Europe and let the learn, then come back and spread the word. It worked with soccer, and other nations do that with basketball here.

It's a fun game to watch and hope (probably with futility) to see some in the upcoming Olympics.
